## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] My name is Pete Souza, I'm the chief official White House photographer for President Obama. I spend pretty much every day all day with the President, documenting everything he does. I've taken close to 2 million Photographs and [ INAUDIBLE ]. There's a lot of pictures I take that are boring. They're in meetings where people are sitting the same chairs they were the day before. But every once in a while there's something unexpected that happens. My job, and it's probably the only pressure I face, Just to make sure I'm ready for one of those [ UNKNOWN ] was happen. This photograph and the couple others are during the [ UNKNOWN ] out laid on the Sunday night.

I believe in this case he was calling Chrysler to come that [ UNKNOWN ] and over. And I think you can see the tension on everybody's faces. And I think it's important to have that visual Or people in generations to come. I mean, I photographed clearly every visit he made to a military hospital. He always felt that it was important for him since he's the one who sent people into harm's way to go and I think connection with not just the patients but their families. I think the pictures convey a very genuine man. In pretty much everything that he does, there are things that happened occasionally where you realize that your no Whether it's the Bin Laden raid.

Whether it's tragedy happens, the [ INAUDIBLE ] shootings. But also these moments when he's playing in the snow with his girls. The President himself, he enjoys looking at the photographs of his girls. When he walks through the West wing and he sees a picture of Malia or Sasha He'll say that's one of my favourite photographs, almost every time. [ UNKNOWN ] have, he's watched her girls grow up [ UNKNOWN ] administration. To see one picture of them playing in the snow in 2010 and then just this last year, first [ UNKNOWN ] To see them as young ladies wearing long dresses. It's been interesting to watch them grow up like this.

There's been this mystery of how decisions were made. What a person's really like. And I think by us showing people now some of these pictures I think it gave people a window into the president, and the president as a person that they might not have otherwise. [ MUSIC ]
