Well, probably a lot of motivation to do what they, you know, feel like they really wanna do. >> 20 year old Abdul Abrar is part of Kids Off The Block, a program that's a refuge from the violence that claims the lives of many people his age. >> Every morning I wake up and I look across here-- And I-- and I think about the youth that [ unk ]. And their names could be on that, if I do is deny those. And it's just as simple as that. >> Like I was with a lot of people, and like, we used to get on a lot of trouble. So this like kept me, you know, and my men off the streets, you know, to something else just that-- You know, out there, running around with nothing to do, trying to find something to do and getting in some trouble. >> He's among 10 students from the program who made the 15- hour bus trip to Washington, not only to witness Obama's Inauguration, but to experience life at historically black Howard University. >> The biggest thing I'm looking forward to is being at Howard University, cheering with everybody and looking at Obama on TV. >> We gotta take on these challenges [ unk ]; the gang, violence and the drugs away. There's no place for them anymore in this little era, they have no place.
