## Transcript

Bill O'Reilly used part of his interview on the Late Show Tuesday night to once again defend embattled newsman Brian Williams. But this time, it was a little more personal for the Fox News host. You know, we have a sport in the United States called let's destroy the famous person. And that's what happened to him. And I think that NBC should bring him back, I think they will bring him back. Back in February Williams was given a six month suspension from NBC's Nightly News for misrepresenting events he experienced while covering the war in Iraq. Of course O'Reilly has defended Williams in the past.

And anybody who is enjoying the destruction of this man, you gotta look at yourself here. And there's a lot of people seem to be real happy that his career is going down the drain. That disturbs me. But since O'Reilly's appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live last month, he and Williams suddenly had something in common. They both have been accused of fibbing on the air. According to multiple reports, O'Reilly fabricated his encounters in Argentina during the Falklands War, and apparently lied about several other experiences as well. But when David Letterman brought up those accusations Tuesday, O'Reilly denied them.

What I do is analysis, different from what other people do. So I [ UNKNOWN ] and give my opinion as you well know. Aside from his comments on the Late Show O'Reilly has remained mostly silent on the accusations against him. The appearance was his first non Fox tv interview since the fabrication claims were made.
