## Transcript

I play Peggy Dawn, in The Master, who is the wife of Lancaster Dawn. Who we call the Master. He is a leader of an organization that is being formed and I'm very fiercely loyal to him and fiercely loyal to the cause, which is the name of this organization. I feel that he has been victimized and so it's not only my husband in the cause but I have children with this man. And I think any woman who has children with a man will tell you that anyone who threatens that family unit, it can bring out an interesting side of your personality. We were, a society in transition, post- war. It's that very delicate thing of not being able to go to the past and yet not knowing your identity for the future.

So there was allot of vulnerability, I think in that time. A lot of people seeking identities. For me looking at Peggy, women had been giving this responsibility in war time and then post- war it was sort of glamorized to then go back into the kitchen and be home and take care of your man, when during war it was like let's get out there, let's all work for our country and so. [ SOUND ] It was a real interesting time for, for women. Even the dealings that Peggy has with, with her husband. She wouldn't speak negatively about her husband in front of anybody else or speak negatively to him in front of anybody else, but behind closed doors, she's gonna let him know what she thinks.

I think it just speaks to how we dealt with all issues at that time, which was very closeted. When we were filming The Master, I had well I have, a child. I was not getting a lot of sleep and we were shooting nights. And so I was working in this amazing sleep deprivation place. The energy of the character I was playing was sorta bleeding into my life and then the lack of sleep sorted the line between reality and, and work was sort of bleeding into one another. And it was a very, very surreal experience. Seeing the film I understand why it was so surreal, you don't always recognize where you're putting yourself emotionally or psychologically when you're working until after the fact.
