## Transcript

So they've closed the gallery. They've locked the doors. They've turned off the cameras in here. And I hear people yelling, let her out. Because they are tired, too. They're tired too. The speaker announced. Uh. Once quorum was restored, that the call of the House would remain, and any member that was out because of the quorum break would be required to sign a permission slip agreeing to be under the authority of DPS. Um, in order to leave the Capitol. Uh, I refuse I refuse to sign the permission slip to be able to leave the Capitol. I disagree with that authoritarian, uh, tactic that they have, um, taken as being part of the minority party.

We we we don't have a lot of victories, but we do have our, um, principles. We still have our dignity, and we still have the right to protest and resist. That's my desk. And so, uh, chair, uh, I practice a vegan lifestyle, and he went and got me some, uh, some chili that's meatless and vegan. Uh, so I'm very grateful, but I have a lot of refreshments that my colleagues have brought. Um, even the chair of the House administration brought me a blanket. Each member who signed the slip have been assigned a DPS officer to follow them around, um, 24 hours a day. Uh, instead of being on the lookout for criminals, instead of being on the lookout for pedophiles and human traffickers and and those who actually commit crimes, these officers have been assigned to our democratic state representatives only to ensure that they get back to the Capitol, to pass the racist maps and all the other legislation that they want that could harm and disenfranchise marginalized communities.

You know what really bothers me? When I heard them say that they're going to take up the maps before they take up flood relief.
