## Transcript

This is Gilbert Cruz for time. com. In case you hadn't heard, there's a new Harry Potter movie out, and because I love you all so much, I decided to watch each of the seven previous films so you wouldn't have to. Let's get you all caught up. [ SOUND ]. Part one. Harry Potter is an orphan who lives in a cupboard under the stairs of his very mean relatives, the Dursleys. His cousin Dudley is a punk. [ SOUND ] Wake up cousin. [ SOUND ] Harry discovers that his a wizard, and the only person to ever have survived an attack by Voldemort, a very bad magician who killed his parents. He gets invited to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and gets there by way of cool old timey train.

He meets his future best friends, Ron and Hermione and some teachers, professors Dumbledore, Mcgonagall and Snape, who always looks mysterious and slightly constipated. At Hogwart's they play a game, called Quidditch. Harry, Ron and Hermione figure out that something called the sorcerer's stone, which can grant immortality is hidden somewhere within Hogwarts. Their defense against the dark arts teacher is also looking for the stone. Initially Voldemort is living on the back of his head. [ SOUND ] Gross. Harry kills the professor, Voldemort escapes. [ SOUND ] Part two. It's summer and Harry's back at the Durs.

In the first place. Dudley he's still a punk. [ SOUND ] There's a Jar Jar Binks like character in Dobby who is a self flagellating house elf. [ NOISE ] Hogwarts has a new defense against the dark arts teacher, Gilderoy Lockhart. He smiles a lot. Harry finds a diary owned by former student named Tom Riddle. And hears about something called the chamber of secrets. A smiley defense against the dark arts teacher. Is apparently not that nice. You're a fraud. Ron and Harry discover the entrance to the chamber of secrets, inside is a giant snake [ SOUND ] and a 16 year- old version of Voldemort whose real name is Tom Riddle, that was his diary from earlier in the film.

No! They stab the book with a snake tooth, Riddle explodes and Harry's a hero yet again. Part three, back at the Dursleys. You remember Dudley. Someone named Serious Black escaped from Askaban, the maximum security wizard prison. Everyone thinks he's after Harry. Don't tell me you never been hearing of Sirius Black? Back to Hogwarts where they have a new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin. But given the positions track record we suspect he might not be very good. Ridiculous. Dumbledore is the same. But different. Some Quidditch is played. And things revealed. Sirius is Harry's godfather.

[ SOUND ] Lupin is a werewolf, which no one guessed despite his last name. And Ron's pet rat is the man who betrayed Harry's parents to Voldemort. Harry and Hermione and travel back in time. Save themselves, some Sirius, and learn some life lessons along the way. Part Four. Harry is not at the Dursley's. He and the Weasleys attend the Quidditch World Cup and some dudes that look like clan members show up and burn everything down. Back to Hogwarts which is hosting the tri wizard tournament, which pits the Brits against some French girls and some Bulgarian dudes. The new defense against the dark arts teacher is a guy named Madi Moody, we are suspicious.

Also the pretty guy from Twilight's here. Harry's chosen for the tournament even though he's underage and everyone's mad at him. In the tournament, they have to defeat a dragon, murder people, and a creepy hedge maze. Harry and the pretty boy from Twilight are taken to Voldemort, who has no nose, and the pretty boy dies. The dark guard creature turns out to be evil, which, you know, seriously, just leave the position unfilled. Part five, back with the Dursleys. Dudley's turned into a teenage hoodlum, obviously. [ LAUGH ] So, the Ministry of Magic doesn't believe that Voldemort is back and they try and discredit Harry.

At Hogwarts, they made the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher Deloris Umbridge. She's clearly evil because she wears pink. Harry kisses a girl for the first time, yay! And finally gets close to a family member, Sirius Black. Harry figures out that Voldemort is looking for a prophecy, housed at the Ministry of Magic. He and his friends invade the but Sirius dies. No. Voldemort and Dumbledore do get out. Voldemort is defeated. for now. Part six, Dumbledore's gay, which, honestly we did not see coming. I do love knitting patterns. Snape is the new Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher. No comment.

Everyone is kissing everyone. Harry's a little cocky [ SOUND ]. And Dumbledore speaks of Horcruxes, items that Voldemort has placed pieces of his soul in, allowing him to live forever. Dumbledore and Harry go to a spooky cave, are attacked by spooky creatures. [ SOUND ] And Snape kills Dumbledore. We told you he was bad. [ SOUND ] [ MUSIC ] Part seven. No Hogwarts for Harry and friends who are on the run from still noseless, Voldemort. So they camp for a while, then they camp some more. Lots of pretty looking places. And there is some awkward dancing and some destroying of Horcruxes. And eventually the three get captured.

They get saved by Dobby and Dobby dies, which is honestly, that's sort of sad. He is happy. To be with his friend. Voldemort steals the elder wand from Dumbledore's tomb. That's one of the the three Deathly Hallows of the title, a trio of artifacts that makes one unstoppable. And despite the amazing job I just did, you'll probably still be confused. Enjoy the film. [ MUSIC ] [ SOUND ]
