The violence follows a more peaceful rally as some 10, 000 demonstrators marched on a federal prosecutor's office in Caracas. Venezuela Attorney General confirmed the deaths, as well as 23 injuries, and many private vehicles torched by protesters. A photographer snapped this picture, Wednesday, of people trying to help one of the injured protesters after unidentified attackers drove motorcycles toward the crowds and open fired. According to the BBC, the march was hoped to secure the release of 13 other demonstrators who were arrested in earlier protests against the policies of Venezuelan president, Nicolas Maduro. Maduro has characterized the protest against his 2- year administration as a potential coup. Venezuela suffers from inflation at worst than 50 percent. Some of Maduro's recent moves that angered protesters include introducing a law in late January to cap private company profits at 30 percent. Analysts say sever currency controls have limited imports and worsened the shortages on anything from the wine used to celebrate Catholic mass, to car parts. The violence hasn't slowed the outcry against Maduro. Two mayors who opposed the president called for more protests. This is a picture of David Smolansky from 2009 when he was still a student protester. Now, the Mayor of a Caracas municipality, he vowed, we will not kneel, challenging the government to see who is stronger. The BBC quotes Caracas mayor Antonio Ledezma also saying " You have to know, Mr. Maduro, that whatever you do, what started today will not stop until change is achieved in peace, and with democracy for all Venezuelans ." Of the three people killed Wednesday, official say two were protesters and one was a pro- government supporter participating in a counter- protest.
