## Transcript

After CBS says, " you know, you can stay in the Ed Sullivan theater" I was hesitant to say yes to it because doing a show like this is very intimate. As much as it's for however many millions of people you're really just talking to the camera which is really one person. So you want the audience to be sort of one person at the same time. And so you want a very intimate feel and my last studio, everybody could see me and I could see everybody and That's harder in a space that's not built for it. For me, I want to be able to see everybody. I don't want instruments between me and the audience. I want to be able to look them in the eye.

I want the music that Jean Batiste is gonna be playing During the commercial break I wanna sing along with him and I want the whole audience to sing along, and I want us to look each other's eyes as we're singing along. I want that connection. You know, I do the show to meet the audience every night. And that's what I love about doing the show, is every night I get to meet these guests, I get to play with my friends, and I get to meet the audience.
