You know, dogs-- show dogs-- dogs in general have a lot of features in common and the breed standards. But you have to learn about breed type, which is really what's important. Well, the first thing I do is to look at the dogs all lined up from a distance, and compare them one to the other while looking down the line. I'm looking for the structure, general conditions. And then I go closer and look at their heads and expressions, their eyes. Well, if they have long hair-- long coats, you need to know what's under there because groomers, many of them are very skilled, and the dog can look really fabulous. >> Uh huh. >> And underneath, it can be sort of a bony kind of wreck. >> Right. >> But the hair makes it look, you know, terrific. >> Her name is Valcopy's Hannah Montana, and her name is Hannah. She's-- she was number one in the country last year. She had 10 group ones in one year, which no other toy foxes have ever accomplished that in one year. -[ unk ] It's a cute little puppy. >> It's her custom leash. Because it's Hannah Montana, so we had to do like purple or something... >> Something [ unk ]-- >> I would probably have spent like $ 60, 000 last year. >> Wow. >> It's very expensive. You know what, if we just won the breed, I'm happy with that. Just to get out of the breed here is a big deal. >> David Frei, I'm the Director of Communications from Westminster Kennel Club, and co- host of the telecast. I think the key to what I do is to relate these dogs to the people at home that I want them to know that these great show dogs that they're seeing in the ring are loving family pets. They're real dogs with real people showing them. Snooty? No, I don't think we're snooty. I think we're proud of our dogs and the things that we do, you know, that are involved with purebred dogs. The Westminster experience is more than winning because we have 2, 500 dogs; and really, there are only 173 breed or variety winners, so it's a lot of dogs that go home without a breed win. But they're here to see their friends; they're here to show their wonderful dogs to their peers, and others that want to see them. The Westminster experience is not just about winning. It's about sharing out with friends and sharing it with your dogs, and having a good time in New York City-- be a part of a great history that we have here. >> The winner of the Terrier Group, the Scottish terrier number 11. >> You know, if you've won you can [ unk ] with this-- with this pet. She's just- she's just beautiful. >> She really is beautiful, and Gabriel's a really, really nice guy.
