>> The 2014 Sochi Olympics has all the potential of being 'that moment' in Ted Ligety's career, that moment when he assumes his place as one of 'the greats.' Ligety, a native of Parks City, Utah had the best year of his career during the 2013 season, becoming the 5th racer in history and the 1st in 45 years to win 3 gold medals at one world ski championships. But even if with so much success now, his parents offer a bittersweet reminder that it didn't come easily or all that quickly.

>> In the beginning, he didn't do all that well in ski racing. Boys were beating him and girls were beating him. So he said, " I know I gotta do something ."

>> And he did, after winning a silver medal in the Junior World Championships in 2004, he brought home his 1st gold at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin with a very unexpected 1st place finish in the men's combined event. Ligety currently has 4 season titles, 21 1st place wins, and 43 podiums in World Cup competition. He will be competing in 5 events while in Sochi, the giant slalom, slalom, super combined, super- G and downhill. I'm Christian Bryan.
