## Transcript

We were all discovering the evolution of the story in real time. Um, but there were some very enjoyable turns in there that none of us could have anticipated. Why are you here? Did you kill her? What do you think? Nile Jarvis moved in down the street from me. Maybe my next book should be about him. Whole world thinks they know what happened. But I didn't kill my wife. People just want gossip and carnage. You want to be relegitimize? I can offer a new narrative. This story relies entirely on, on, on. You know, the the, the dynamic between these two characters. And there are very long scenes where we're just talking to each other, you know, across a table.

Um, and so there's some, some pressure there. Um, but it never it never felt labor intensive. And I hope it didn't read that way to the audience. But yeah. No, look, I mean, there's actually nothing I enjoy more than, than that. Um, um, the pyrotechnics were pretty much, uh, all contained within, um, you know, these sparring sessions, uh, you know, there is a little murder in there, but but, but but that's not where the, you know, tension really lies. Um, and it was fun. I mean, they're they're hiding a lot from each other. They're playing each other, but they also are forging a genuine intimacy and connection that that unnerves both of them and that, you know, that was kind of a a blast, really to, to, to play with.

You're a lot more than people think. I think we were having a moment. You need help. Aggie, you'd rather invent a murder than look in the mirror? If Niall did this. I need to know. Be careful now, Jarvis. He's not like us. Huh? In a way, he's kind of liberating, because then you're only playing the present. And what's on the page in that moment. You know, sometimes I think when you're when when you do know the outcome, you can I, you know, I have a tendency sometimes to kind of play into that or to or to do something ridiculous that flags it. So there's freedom in the fact that you don't know, because then you're only you are.

Then I think, far more committed to that very present moment. Um, which kind of I think it can possibly turn up your sincerity barometer. There are some parallels. I mean, you married an American lady. I married a British gentleman. Yes, yes. And, uh, you know. We have mirroring each other's lives. Yeah. Yes. Espionage shows and children. Yeah, yeah. Um, so. Yeah. But, no, it took this to finally get us in a room together. For Claire to say never again.
