## Transcript

>> I'm Cy Forh reporting for TIME. com from downtown Chicago where more than a million people are expecting to descend in the next couple of minutes to hear the outcome of the epic presidential race.

>> Go Obama. Go Obama. Go Obama! Go Obama.

>> You know, this is the first time this has ever happened and I wanna be a part of it. Just let us know the country is changing. It's for us all, you know, [ unk ] used to be and what we are now. You know, I think he's done a lot to bring everybody together.

>> It's the most important part of my life since 1968, the National Democratic Convention.

>> Why?

>> I think it's the-- we the people. It's what it is. We are the people.

>> Yeah.

>> The people have finally, finally--

>> Yes?

>> expressed how they feel.

>> Yeah.

>> It's gonna be a better world now.

>> Uh- huh.

>> History is being made. Might as well be part of it rather than be a pimple.

>> We need some new young blood in our government.

>> I'm very anxious. I was so anxious I saw three lines. I waited to vote today and my sister called me at 3 o'clock and she said New York Times was out the door. So, by 4 o'clock I was in the shower and out the door.

>> A. m. or p. m .?

>> A. m.

>> A. m.

>> Yes. So, I'm very-- I'm on-- bubbly high right now.

>> I'm just-- I feel like crying. I just said the O name. I'm just so emotional.

>> Yes.

>> We-- They did all. It is for us and the least we can do is show our appreciation, go out and vote and whatever it takes. You know what I mean?

>> I had the honor of calling Senator Barack Obama to congratulate him.

>> Obama! Obama! -[ Music Playing ] -[ Music Playing ]

>> If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible, change has come to America.

>> He's going to join this old country again.

>> I'm proud of our country that we would elect somebody not because of their name even if he is a name that sounds funny to me, not because of his race, not because of any other reason, and the fact that he inspires us, he makes us feel like he can improve our country; and I think that only-- it's a symbol to everybody.

>> This is like historic. It's groundbreaking. It's like I'm living history.

>> I'm so proud of us.

>> What do you mean?

>> I'm so proud that we elected someone that is all about--

>> Obama.

>> Obama president, yeah! Couldn't believe it, but he did it.

>> Yes, we did it! Yes, we did it! Yes, we did it!

>> I'm so proud to be an American.
