It means that I got myself into a lot of debt, because of my spending issues. I don't consider myself recovered, because I still get anxiety when I walk into a store, but I've learned how to set the appropriate boundaries for me as a spender. To still be able to live a happy, debt free life. So what was really the turning point for you? We had a moment when we couldn't afford to pay our mortgage that month. And we were running a $ 1, 000 deficit every single month. And I was just sick and tired of handling all the bills, and bouncing checks, and not knowing where our money was going, and not communicating with my husband about it. That I just had to say enough and I had to change the way that I was spending money but also learn how to communicate with my saver as a husband. And really work hard towards those common financial goals. How did you turn that around? How did you get started making a budget and sticking to it? The first thing that we did is we learned how to lower our food budget. we are spending about two thousand dollars a month on food. that was a thousand dollars on groceries, plus another thousand dollars on eating out, because I was not cleaning properly, and I sorted really thinking about budgeting as a way of giving me freedom, I think that this was a big mindset change for me instead of thinking of a budget Strictive. Strictive. I started seeing it as I can still spend money on things as long as I give it a reason and a purpose. And when I gave myself and showed myself that this budget could be freedom for me, it changed everything for me. I really started seeing it a different way and started seeing if I don't spend this money now, I can save it later And that became more of a value to me than the item that I wanted to spend money on.
