## Transcript

At the precipice of an American industrial rebirth. If we follow through on the laws passed in the last couple of years, we could see more good manufacturing jobs here in America, enormous cuts to pollution, healthier communities, and a stronger position for America in the global economy. When people think about climate pollution, they often think about power plants or cars. But the industrial sector directly contributes about a quarter of all climate pollution in the US today. And unlike power in cars, pollution from factories is projected to grow. If we don't do anything to clean this up, industry will be the largest source of climate pollution in the US within the next few years.

And that's a major reason. It's so critical we follow through on the promise of clean factories. Manufacturing investment right now is the highest it's been since World War two. Because of the inflation reduction, which passed just about two years ago, we're seeing a wave of factories, more than $100,000,000,000 of private investment being proposed and moving into development across the country. These factories look a lot different than your grandmas. They're proving we can make things in America without the toxic smoke stacks of last centuries factories. We can produce stuff like clean steel, aluminum, paper, glass, and we can make it without polluting our air and water.

As the world moves to address climate change, this clean stuff will be in higher and higher demand. The local benefits of locating a factory in your state are enormous. And even more so when the factory is clean and doesn't dump a bunch of pollution on the surrounding community. This isn't a partisan issue. More than three quarters of the investment in factories stimulated by the Inflation Reduction Act will go to Republican congressional districts. Every community wants good jobs, clean air, clean water, healthy kids, and we're seeing conservative states leaping at the opportunity to take advantage of these Moving quickly is an imperative.

It's going to take work from federal governments, state governments, local governments, the private sector, scaling our job training programs, involvement from local communities, and more. As soon as we begin work on these projects, we need to learn what is going well, what may need to be improved, and then we need to scale. We need to learn and scale, learn and scale quickly. And luckily, that's what the private sector is so good to do. We could see more good jobs being created right here in America. We could be making things again, and we could see at the same time enormous cuts to climate pollution and other kinds of pollution.

That also strengthens our national security and also positions America to compete in a world that is moving more and more toward a clean economy. This is our moment. We need to seize the opportunity that is right in front of us. S.
