## Transcript

Apple has announced the new iPad, here's what you should know. Between you and me you don't need to know this stuff. It's not gonna make your life meaningfully better. I just need to use these hyperbolic titles to get you to click, cuz the media business is so competitive. But if you go right now, I have the click, I need to feed my family, you can get a few minutes of your life back. Hold on my boss is coming, be cool. Apples new ipads, are they for you or are they poisoning your drinking water? More after this. [ MUSIC ] The new full size ipad is so thin and light that Apple is now calling it the ipad air.

Like previous full size ipads, its got a 9. 7 inch screen but the side bezel is now thinner, one shaped like the ipad mini And it weighs just a pound. That's really light for a 9. 7- inch tablet. If you're thinking to yourself, hey, maybe I'll get a good deal on a fourth generation ipad, I have news for you. That's being discontinued completely, the $ 399 offering for a full- size iPad is gonna remain the iPad 2, which came out in 2011. More on that later. The 7. 9" iPad Mini finally gets a retina display. The resolution gets bumped from 1074 by 768 to 2048 by 1536. The same resolution that you get in the full- sized iPad, so if you like that screen, you'll like the iPad mini screen.

that better screen comes at a higher price. The iPad Mini starts at $ 399 instead of $ 329, however, the first generation iPad Mini is gonna start at $ 299 now. Now, just a little bit of buying advice. If you wanna buy a new iPad, and you've only got $ 400 to spend, but you want a full- sized iPad, I beg of you, I beg of you, and I'm the biggest cheapskate of all, but I beg of you to come up with an extra $ 100. the iPad Air. The iPad 2 at $ 400 is not a good deal. It's base on technology from early 2011. The extra hundred dollars with get you far more in the new iPad Air. If you're gonna spend $ 400, you're better off stepping down to the new iPad mini.

The new iPad mini and the new iPad air both have the most current generation processors, better cameras than the iPad 2. Even stepping down another $ 100 to $ 300. The first generation iPad Mini has, basically, the same guts as the iPad 2, but much better cameras. Whatever you do, don't buy the iPad 2. Apple knows this, that's why it's priced at $ 400. They want you to come into the store and go, well, for an extra $ 100, I get all this other great stuff. [ MUSIC ] It's just brilliant, it's like titling a video with some hyperbolic headline so people click on it. Gotta get those clicks. Gotta get that extra hundred dollars.

In a way I'm like Apple, except not as successful or loved. [ MUSIC ] I'll hate it I guess. We have a lot more coverage about the new iPads. The Apple also rolled out some new computers and some updates to its OS 10 software. Over at time. com click on the tab link.
