There were a lot of international dog trainers. -[ foreign language ) >> The stands used to be full. There are a lot less people now. Now, less than a third of the stands is full. >> Opened in 1931, Macau's Yat Yuen Canidrome is now the only dog racing track left in Asia. Macau is now home to nearly 3 dozen casinos but before its gambling market opened five years ago there were only a handful of locally run casinos, a horse track and a greyhound track. Today the dogs which come from breeders in Australia are also having a tough time as the track now struggles to compete with casinos. Last year the canidrome contributed just . 1 percent of the city's gambling revenues. A track official told a newspaper in nearby Hong Kong that every year they put down 400 dogs that are too old to race. Wong sticks to the track because he says going to casinos can be dangerous. -[ foreign language ] >> Over there at the casinos people bet a lot more money. It's easy to win but it's also easy to lose, I've seen many people lose a lot of money. Some people had to sell their houses, some got divorced. Here we just make small bets. You don't have to spend your money. You can just sit here. Here it's just entertainment, so it's not the same. >> But with hoards of people heading to casinos instead of packing these stands, entertainment like this might soon be left in the dust.
