## Transcript

[ MUSIC ] So as a recovering spender, I would get a high off of it. I loved buying new things, I loved being able to buy new things. I loved appearing like I had the money to buy the new things, that whole thing buying, I just loved everything. And how I replace that is I really had to think about, okay If I'm spending $ 600 on clothing that I don't need, how much money could I be saving putting the same amount of time into it. I started looking at my grocery budget first thing, and looking at it as if I spend two hours a week and save $ 100, then that's $ 50 an hour that I've just made myself.

So I started thinking about it in an hourly wage approach I guess. And really learned how to cut my grocery bill back and trying to really focus on doing it in the least amount of time so I was making a really big hourly wage and then focus all of my energy onto that instead of spending money. Getting my grocery bill in check was almost like a game to me. I would try and see how little I could spend while feeding my family so We went from 1000 dollars a month down to 200 dollars a month and I fed us on that for two years. I loved seeing how little I could spend, how much I could get for free. I don't wanna say I replaced the high of shopping but I really just diverted that love of spending money into a different way and now it was a love of saving money.
