## Transcript

Texas doesn't want Walmart to sell alcohol in its aisles, and the mega- chain is suing the state over the ban. The feud is based on a Texas law that says public companies with more than 35 shareholders can't sell hard liquor in their stores. Texas is far from the only state with different liquor laws. Some of those laws harken back to the country's puritan roots and values of temperance. Massachusetts bans happy hour drinking games and drink specials. The state also restricts when supermarkets can sell beer and wine. Maine doesn't allow alcohol sales before 9 a. m. Sunday. That is, unless it's Saint Patrick's Day.

Then you can grab booze as early as 6 a. m. And a few states have bans on liquor licenses. Pennsylvania only allows liquor sales in 600 state- run stores. In Montana and New Jersey the limited liquor licenses can go for as much as one million dollars. Utah's Mormon roots require people to order food with their drinks. Even if they're just sharing it. States known for partying tend to swing in the opposite direction. Louisiana is know for it's drive- thru daiquiri stands. [ INAUDIBLE ] And just to accommodate for that the state doesn't consider a drink in a car an open container unless a straw is actually through the lid.

In Nevada bars can stay open 24 hours and convenience stores can serve alcohol. And rather than being a crime public intoxication is considered a health problem under state law. Viva Las Vegas.
