## Transcript

Millennials know that they're suppose to budget but are there any models out there that they can use to kinda shape their behavior? One of my favorites is what I call the percentage budgeting system. That's where you designate 50 % of your income towards your expenses 30 % towards your wants, your discretionary expenses and 20 % towards your savings, debt repayment, retirement goals, etcetera, financial goals. So that's kind of a very tangible way to satisfy all three of your major lifestyle necessities like expenses, wants and financial goals. In one place and make sure you're funding them all the time.

The other one is the zero sum budget, and that's where you give every single dollar that you earn a very clear, specific place and location. So this is one I use because I'm a freelancer. And I have my income fluctuating every month. So I take my previous month's income and then I use that amount to budget for the next month. That makes sure I'm not spending more than I made ever, even with fluctuating income. And I know exactly where every dollar's going. Is it going to rent? Is it going to entertainment? Is it going to say things, etc. That's great. [ MUSIC ]
