Tawakkol, the mother of the revolution has come to New York to push for a U. N. Security Council resolution. Demanding international intervention in Yemen. [ FOREIGN_LANGUAGE ] [ FOREIGN ]. So you oppose the Security Council plan to possibly agree with an immunity for Saleh and his close associates. [ FOREIGN ]. The resolution passed a few days later, but it didn't not include one of Tawakkkol's main demands. Instead of making President Sala stand trial, the resolution granted him immunity. We met Tawakkol at her hotel to talk about her personal reaction to the bitter sweet victory. [ FOREIGN ] [ FOREIGN ] [ INAUDIBLE ]. Has been protesting corruption for years. But the last nine months have been particularly difficult. She's been living in a tent in Yemen's Change Square, and the protests have taken her away from her family. [ FOREIGN ] [ FOREIGN ] [ SOUND ] In the middle of the interview an urgent message from Yemen is shown to [ FOREIGN ] [ CROSSTALK ] This active rule, society. I can't, I can't, I can't [ INAUDIBLE ]. My, my intention with my country. Tawakkol received news that president Sadat has retaliated after passing of the resolution, starting new attacks against protesters. [ SOUND ] We find Tawakkol in the lobby a little later. She's still catching up with the news in Yemen. [ FOREIGN ] [ FOREIGN ] Later that night, at a Brooklyn mosque, the Yemeni community has gathered to hear Tawakkol speak. [ NOISE ] [ FOREIGN ] Here there are no news cameras. Just the dozens of amateur video devices the community is using to document this historic event. Tawakkol is the first Arab woman to win a Nobel Prize. And that she's from Yemen, a country often known for being the poorest in the Middle East, is no small source of joy. [ FOREIGN ] [ MUSIC ] Chanting the same slogans, thousands of miles from Chain Square, Tawakkol is stepping into a new international role. [ SOUND ] Despite her demands not being met by the security council, tonight is a reminder of what Tawakkol does have. [ SOUND ] The admiration and support of a global community.
