We're not here for different things, like ,-- I don't know-- alcohol, drugs, you know, guys. We're here for God, and we're here to get stuff out of God. >> This is the Creation Music Festival. And, it's where Christian kids come to worship at the altar of rock and roll. Creation is a 4- day Christian rock spectacle, featuring the top- selling Christian bands, and include anything from pop to hip- hop to worship songs with what they call, vertical lyrics, meaning " straight to God ". >> I like-- I mean, we have so much fun. I mean, like, we all just get together, and we go listen to the bands we like, and we jump around, scream. >> Amanda and her church, Oasis of Love, have been coming to the festival now for eight summers. And, she's been able to save some money this year on the $ 115 pass by volunteering in the staff cafeteria. But, even without the volunteered discount, Christians have flocked here this year, making Creation one of the nation's largest religious gathering. Over it's 32- year history, Creation has done more than just hang on. The festival has grown steadily. And, organizers say this year's sales are up 8 percent over last year. >> What's different from Creation is that it's a vast community: tons of youth groups, the average age as the last year is 23 years old. You know, we're free of alcohol. It's an alcohol- free zone. You're surrounded by, you know, tens of thousands of fellow Christians. So, it does have that family, kind of, atmosphere in the field. >> That atmosphere is the key to the festival's success. Creation is a place where Christian teens can be rebels with a cause. Here at creation, teens can be cool while still being evangelical Christians, which isn't always easy to do. >> Sometimes, it's hard to share our faith with people, because they, like, make fun of you and stuff. That's why it's hard going to public school. >> And, just to be able to look out in the crowd of, like, hover many thousands of believers, like, all coming, like, to serve the same God, like-- it's just incredible. >> We're called Skillet, and I'm not gonna waste your time talking. I'm just gonna shut up and play some rock and roll. How does that sound for you? >> And, make a guitar heroes and teen idols, just like the secular kids, only minus the stuff they don't want. >> TobyMac. His music, lyrics are really touching especially the funky Jesus music, 'cos it reminds us that, like, we don't need that junk from, like, music stations-- >> FM 97. >> yeah, FM 97 and stuff-- we don't need that in our life, and we need a funky Jesus music that will, like, keep us going. >> Creation veteran and Christian music superstar, TobyMac, has not only kept funky Jesus music going. He reinvented it. There's 1995 hit from TobyMac's band, DC Talk, Jesus Free, was to Christian rock, what Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit was the so- called, Secular Rock. >> It's the, sort of, the alternate anthem of-- you know, you might hate on me or whatever, but, you know, I'm a Jesus freak.
