## Transcript

No matter how tough the negotiations, go high enough and you always come to the one person who can make a deal. Looks like Bank of America is counting on that one person, being U. S. Attorney General, Eric Holder. Financial giant, Bank of America asking for a meeting between CEO Brian Moynihan and. And Attorney General, Eric Holder. Bank of America is looking to end several investigations into the bank's packaging of risky mortgages, into securities. Fortune sighted reuter's report of the bank's request and then noted, such meetings are unusual for the Department of Justice. Settlements are usually brokered between a company's lawyers, and law enforcement officials.

Sources says, Moynihan has asked to meet with Holder after Bank of America and Justice Department attorneys reached an impasse. Bank of America appears to be attempting to follow in the footsteps of another financial giant. J. P. Morgan CEO, Jamie Dimon declined to talk to reports last September as he walked into a Justice Department building to meet with Holder. But the bank settled with the government only two months later for $ 13 billion. Large banks are eager to get out from under the litigation over shady lending tactics that helped send the country into a still lingering recession. And, it isn't clear when, or even if, Bank of America would get a meeting with Holder.

Thanks for watching, I'm Cliff Judy.
