## Transcript

We're sadden to report as of right now fire captain Dave Rosa, a 45 year old assigned at fire station 10, a captain for the Long Beach Fire Department for the six and half years and a member of the Long Beach Fire Department for the last 17 years was killed in the line of duty this morning while he responded to that structure fire. He leaves behind a wife and two children. The second firefighter is in stable condition in the hospital as we speak being treated by the staff here at St Mary Medical Center. This is a tough day. [ BLANK_AUDIO ] It's a tough day. In regards to the police investigation there's a lot more that I don't know right now.

I'm as frustrated as probably all of you cuz. There's a big puzzle to put together and we have multiple resources, as most of you observed from coming from that location, that are investigating this. We do have a person of interest detained, and we have recovered a weapon. And that's the environment we work in today as law enforcement and fire fighters. You go to these scenes and you never know what's on the other side of those doors. And these brave firefighters went through those doors, and unfortunately, they were met with gunfire.
