## Transcript

Kabir, welcome. Tell me about the book Coined. Well I started working at JP Morgan just months before the credit crisis and I was like, what's going on in the world? Why are people losing their jobs? Why are people losing their lives in some cases? So I went and I studied the idea of money. What's going on in your brain, what's going on in your mind. When you think about money and it culminated in my book Coined So you write about neuroeconomics what is that ?

>> Well they've taken brain scientists and they've studied what goes on in the brain when you're looking at money. In fact they looked at cocaine addicts, people who were high on cocaine, and they scanned their brains and they compared those to those who were about to make money, and they found they were almost identical. That cocaine and money had the same neurological response. Brain scientists can actually scan your brain and, without a shadow of a doubt, predict what stock, which bond, even sometimes what music you like based on brain scan. Which is not totally surprising, because all decisions are made in the brain.

But I think the time is coming That in the next decades to come, we're going to be able to predict stock markets based on what's going on in the brain. Tell me more about that. That sounds fascinating. Well, actually I brought a neuroeconomist to Wall Street, one of the best neuroeconomist to Wall Street. We met with several hedge funds and already I know a couple hedge funds that are hiring people based on brain scans. Because you're trying to see if there are more risk averse, or are they not risk averse. So when the neuroeconomist went down to Wall Street with you, what do, what are they seeking out.

Do they want the more risk averse person, or do they want No, they want risk mitigating. When you run money, you're basically judged not just on how much money you made, but Don't lose the money, that's the big thing. Protect, protect, protect , protect. Risk adjusted return is basically the mantra of Wall Street. [ BLANK_AUDIO ]
