## Transcript

Beloved former child movie star Shirley Temple died Monday night, she was 85 years old. According to a statement obtained by CNN and other outlets, Temple died from natural causes at her California home surrounded by her family and her caregivers. We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and most importantly, as our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and adored wife. Temple started her acting career at just 3 years old and went on to become one of the most popular child actors in Hollywood history. Her singing, dancing, acting, and trademark curls landed her a grand total of 43 roles in feature films including Bright Eyes, Heidi, and Curly Top.

She was even given a special juvenile Oscar in 1935 when she was only 6 years old. To this day, she is the youngest person to ever receive an Academy Award. Temple decided to retire from the film business around 1950, but never straight too far from the public eye. She went on to start a career as a foreign diplomat in 1969. Temple served in the US delegation to the United Nations and was a US ambassador to Ghana and to Czechoslovakia until she decided to retire in 1992. A family statement said funeral arrangements for Temple are still pending. Her survivors include her 3 children, granddaughter, and two great granddaughters.
