## Transcript

Ladies and gentlemen, the great Michael J Fox. Appreciate it. Thank you. It's honored to be here and truly humbling to accept this recognition. I just want to thank Gal Willie and Ryan. The great friends of mine that clearly had important relationships with their fathers who both had Parkinson's and both Parkinson's patients. And my dad was according to me too. And Cosell, his birthday is Saturday. You would be 95. He didn't make it. 95. He made 61. I'm 62, so get that going for me. I passed away Year before I was diagnosed. He was a funny, smart guy. Though he never even came close to finishing high school.

He loved words. He loved puzzles. He could recite dozens of poems off the top of his head. And it's one of his favorites. Yesterday, upon the stair, I met a man who wasn't there. He wasn't there again today. I wish I wish he'd go away. How is this relevant? It turns out it's a perfect metaphor for young Onset Parkinson's. I was climbing a golden staircase, minding my own business, and suddenly, I was blocked by someone, neither I nor anyone else could see. Time passed and no change. No one could see it, but I knew it was there, and it was blocking me from moving forward and pushing me backward.

And I was doing a lot of hiding. And the one thing that wasn't going to work, though, was wishing it away. As time passed, I was lucky enough to gain the support of hundreds of thousands. Eventually, millions of others who wanted to climb those stairs to their own futures as badly as I did mine. It is those people, doctors, scientists, researchers, and others, most impressively patients and their families and friends who showed up for themselves and others. We threw a $2,000,000,000 bag around the little monster on the stairs, and while we have a better sense of what we're dealing with, recent breakthroughs and biomarkers are an example of this.

We now know we are dealing with not just a clinical approach to Parker's disease, but a truly biological understanding of its symptoms, its progress and clues towards finding a cure sooner than we able to hoped for. So thank you and thanks to our amazing staff. Our truly committed board of directors, my fellow patients and their families. And in my case, that would be Tracy and our four adult kids. The adult kids, it's amazing. And my dad. He never said he graduated from the school of Hard Knox. He didn't get anywhere near high school. He said he had a master's in from the University of diversity.

I didn't finish high school either, and I guess that makes me a legacy at the University of niversy. And since every class at the University of Neversy is an AP philosophy course. I'll close with a quote from amu. In midst of winter, I found there was within me an invincible summer. Happy birthday, dad give hug for me.
