## Transcript

>> We've all read a lot in the last?? in the last year in particular about gas shales and then you see different regulatory environments and different local environmental??

>> Yes.

>> challenges in different parts of the country.

>> Great question. Pennsylvania is a perfect example, you know. A couple of months ago, they all but shut down all of the gas operations. They're saying, with the new folks in the office now, they're gonna probably open those back up. And so it's a very piecemeal thing, and that's?? that's where it's tough to invest money.

>> So politics and policy does have an impact.

>> Oh yes, yes.

>> Yes.

>> A big one.

>> Yes, absolutely.

>> All right. The thing about a carbon market, you know, whether it's cap and trade or pricing the carbon, but I think as a society has to come to grips with what is carbon worth long- term, you know. You know, what type of legacy are we leaving? Is it valued at something? Because that changes the economic models. And then on things like transmission, you know, we need to figure out how to build these transmission lines more efficiently and run it like the Interstate Highway System back in the '50s. You know, it's?? That was done for a purpose. It's a little more different now because state's rights and federal rights have flipped around.

But you put those things together, the consistency is really what you need.

>> I don't think China has that problem. You know, I mean, I don't think?? if they wanna??

>> Chuck is right.

>> If they wanna try the transmission thing from Meizhou into Sichuan, I think they can do it.

>> Can I say? I think there's one other thing we could?? Go ahead.

>> No, no. I was gonna say, Chuckie used the term when we were talking a few hours ago in the room, and it's the same term we use, technology agnostic, and I believe?? good to heart it too?? it's put the minds together, give them some incentives, and let the best technology.
