## Transcript

>> Welcome to this week's edition of Techland, the Techland show. Today we're playing Halo 2 on an Xbox.

>> I just-- I wanna talk about this 'cause I've forgotten. Do you remember that Penny Arcade cartoon whether they are like, you could choose between this control it and the bear and games like, I kinda like the bear. This thing is incredible, I mean, it's tremendous.

>> It's just-- it's just-- -[ unk ]-- So, here's what Xbox 360 want.

>> Right.

>> Let me compare it with the--

>> Yes.

>> the footprint. It's like holding like a pumpkin in your hands.

>> We-- to the annual top 10 list. First annual--

>> Actually this is the--

>> This [ unk ]--

>> once a decade top 10 list 'cause we're doing best of the decade.

>> Oh yes. That's right.

>> So I kicked it off with top 10, no, best of the decade gadgets.

>> Yeah. You really just left the mark with that one, that went up about 12: 30 on Monday.

>> So, yeah. Best of the Decade, I don't think there were any real big surprises, you know, iPhone, iPod.

>> Oh yeah, try not to include GPS 'cause it's not really new or--

>> That wasn't a 2, 000 thing, was it?

>> No, but then--

>> I guess--

>> Why didn't you include GPS? Because that stuff was out in long before.

>> So what was number one?

>> It was the iPod, the original quick wheel iPod.

>> Controversial choice, little known fact when it-- when the iPod debuted, I said it was stupid and it would never [ unk ]. Well, I did my best of the decade this morning which is best science fiction and fantasy novels.

>> Oh, lovely.

>> Which was very-- it was difficult. It's really painful, the number one was obvious to me--

>> Uh huh.

>> and then not a lot else was obvious to me and that was very tough.

>> What was your number one?

>> The number one was Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clarke which came out in 2004, beautifully written fantasy novel set in 19th Century.

>> 2 stories first with a complicated rival with friendship, it's just, you know, an astounding book that just showed you could do things with fantasy but I've never seen that before.

>> What happened?

>> The Wizard sex?

>> So AT & T CEO Ralph de la Vega was all like, " Yes. So we're gonna fix our towers and San Francisco in New York 'cause we know it sucks ," but they've been saying that for like over a year. Yeah. Is it gonna happen, probably not.

>> Well, where is all that iPhone money go into, you know, they gotta spend it on something?

>> I don't know. They're supposedly trying to fix it. And then he was like, " Yeah. We're gonna try and find a way to curve those individuals that are like data hogs?

>> By which they mean, actually they're gonna apply charges.

>> Oh, did you know that there's a new one coming, a new nerdy geeky culture site coming out--

>> Oh, no.

>> from Dan Abrams. It's called the Geekosystem.

>> Good name. I wish we--

>> Yeah.

>> have thought of that.

>> They're basically doing everything that we're doing.

>> Well Geekosystem, we welcome the competition.

>> Right. School [ unk ]--

>> Come over and play Halo 2 with us.

>> And kick your ass.

>> Peter will kick your ass.

>> The Joojoo, the CrunchPad.

>> Wait, we call it--

>> The CrunchPad.

>> using the codename.

>> Yeah. What about that?

>> So-- -[ unk ] nothing, right?

>> Yes. I've seen it--

>> Since you use to work for--

>> I used to work for TechCrunch--

>> Yes.

>> so, basically Fusion Garage guys that were building the device?

>> Yeah.

>> Kinda basically blew off Arrington and TechCrunch and said, " You guys are no longer involved with this. This is our thing and it's not your thing so, screw off ."

>> Right. But didn't Arrington, I mean, isn't he-- didn't he have some ownership of the IP?

>> No. According to Fusion Garage, they own everything.

>> Wow.

>> And I'm actually gonna go see it today.

>> Are you kidding?

>> The Joojoo which means magic or something in some sort of African language--

>> Right.

>> Remember what. Wow. We're really not doing a very good job today, are we?

>> Or are we doing an excellent job?

>> But you just killed me, that's enough.

>> Yeah.

>> You know, you're not really fighting fair.
