## Transcript

Call it the Ron Burgundy Effect. Comedian Will Ferrell, in character, seemingly everywhere and boosting sales, ratings and revenues in his mustachioed path.

>> Comfortably fits 2 turkey sandwiches or 70 packs of gum.

>> By the numbers, his 2014 Dodge Durango ad campaign boosted October sales 59 percent and November sales 36 percent over the previous year. The ads drew more than 15 million views on Youtube. Not bad for a 1970's era local news anchor.

>> I love Scotch. I love Scotch. Scotchy, Scotch, Scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly.

>> The quaft and quotable news readers got a Ben and Jerry's ice cream flavor called, of course, Scotchy Scotch Scotch and an actual, official Scotch to boot. He's, like we said, everywhere.

>> Good evening, I'm Amber Shots and I'm Ron Burgundy. Thanks for joining us tonight.

>> The newscast drew 600, 000 views on KXMB's website. That's a station that only reaches 150, 000 households. Burgundy's cameo not only raised the profile of Bismarck's KXMB but also that of the anchorwoman Amber Shots who co- anchored that newscast and afterward fielded questions from the likes of CNN and Inside Edition. He was a rating smash for TSN, too, after hosting the channel's curling coverage, Bell Media reported ratings for the event up 38 percent over its last airing. Could it have something to do with that kilt he was wearing?

>> I won't even ask if you're wearing anything underneath that kilt so [ unk ]

>> And while some might have suggested " Oh Ron could have been wearing out his welcome with that omnipresence" boxoffice. com is predicting a $ 50 million dollar opening weekend for Anchorman 2, which hits theaters December 18. For TIME, I'm Lauren Zima.

>> That is gonna make one hell of a story.
