## Transcript

First of all, I just want to thank time magazine for the unbelievable honor to grace the cover. Um, you know, being a kid from Akron, Ohio, my upbringing, it means a lot. And to be here celebrating with all you fellow athletes. And we could talk about all our stories and why we're here. And we know what sports has done for every household. You know what it what it does for us, how it brings families together. You know, the inspiration that we continue to give generations before us, that we'll give generations after us, generations that's here now. Um, I wouldn't be here. Obviously none of us would be here without sport.

You know, it's just the it's the number one thing that we know. What brings the world together. You know, we remember the pandemic and everything that was going on with the pandemic. And all of us was just wondering and just saying, can we just get sports back? Like we if we get sports back, we know that we can bring each other together and everybody will feel so much better about life because of what sports brings. So, um, I didn't even I didn't put nothing on the teleprompter. Y'all can tell I'm speaking to y'all. I ain't even my. That thing says five LeBron James. That's all it says up there.

I'm literally speaking to y'all from the heart. This is a true honor for me. Um, my beautiful wife is here. Um, Savannah. Beautiful wife. My beautiful wife is here. My daughter decided she wanted to stay at the hotel with her, with her cousin, and just, like, run up the tab like she's like Macaulay Culkin on Home Alone. Um, but shout out to her. Shout out my oldest son, Bronny. We just had a story, obviously with DeMar, you know, and those guys come up here and talk about cardiac arrest, how important that is. Our son went through something like that a few years ago, um at USC. And obviously if it wasn't for the coaching staff and the medical team and everybody at USC being there in a timely fashion, we possibly could be sitting here without our son, our oldest son.

So thank you to everybody and all the efforts when it comes to cardiac arrest. Guys, take that serious. If you've got kids and an elementary, you got kids in middle school, kids in high school colleges, make sure they have these devices available where you can get them, practice them. It's very important. Super, super important. Obviously, we know how important it is to our family. So we're a big advocate of that. Um, and also I got a shout out my youngest son, my twin, who's at the University of Arizona. I love you as well, Bryce. Um, I know you guys have been here for a long time. Uh, these chairs aren't the most comfortable chairs that y'all sat in.

Uh, so I'm going to get you guys out of here, but I just want to say thank you again from the bottom of my heart. It means everything to me. And without sports, I wouldn't be here. I wouldn't be able to tell my story. I would not be able to inspire the youth, inspire everybody that's followed my my journey. And I mean, we wouldn't be able to sit in a beautiful room like this, even though the chairs are not the greatest. So, uh, I love you guys and, uh, hopefully see you guys soon. Appreciate it.
