Hey, I'm a new dad. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there. It's the outtakes! I've been a dad for about 17 months, and I wanna share with you some of the financial lessons that I've learned. You're going to spend more money than you think, and if you wanna go out to dinner or do anything fun, you're gonna have to pay a baby- sitter We spend about $ 1, 500 a month just on childcare costs and babysitter costs alone. It makes it really hard to save when you're putting some much money into the care of your child. Make sure you really sit down with your spouse, your partner, and really go over your budget.

I know it's sort of a sticky subject, but you really You need to put down into pen and paper about how much money's coming out, how much money's going in, and where you can find little areas to save so you can one day afford your house or beef up your retirement savings. [ MUSIC ] A lot of things get much more expensive when you have a child. Everyone knows that there's child care costs, but you'll also have to pay more money in your health insurance. That's going to go up by a hundred dollars to two hundred dollars where you are. You're going to spend a lot of money and some of the money is really fun to spend by outfitting the nursery but a lot of the money is just not fun at all.

When he was on formula, we would pay about 30 to 50 bucks a week and diapers. it really adds up. I mean it's close to about $ 1000 a year for diapers alone. Experts will tell you that you should get term life insurance for about 20 to 30 years that will cover about ten to 15 times your income. That way if something unfortunate happens to you, the people who depend on you will have some security [ MUSIC ] And no matter how much money you spend. You really can't put a price tag on all this happiness. Happy Father's Day. [ MUSIC ]
