You see, those iPhones lose their luster, and sales rates, when the rumor mill starts churning out. Photos and videos of a new iPhone. So, retailers try to make up for lackluster sales with steep discounts. Target's offering the iPhone 5C for $ 29. 99, down from $ 79. 99, and the 5S for $ 100 off $ 199. And then there's the most drastic discount. Walmart is selling the iPhone 5C for $ 0.

Of course, these deals only apply to a new line activation or a two year contract, so you might be more interested in waiting to strike up a new agreement with that rumored iPhone. Some of the latest rumors driving down the price of the current iPhone include larger screens, a thinner design, and a bigger battery. Most outlets point to a September 9th announcement of Apple's next iPhone, we'll venture to guess several major retailers will be dropping their iPhone 5C and S prices up to that point.
