## Transcript

One day, my best friend came to school. I never forget it, 3rd grade. She's like, wow, I wanna be a girl scout. Okay, that's pretty cool. I wanna be a girl scout too. I came back from Girl Scout Camp all inspired to save the Earth, then the world, and people in it. And it was from that moment on, that I thought, you know, I could make a difference. During the mid 2000's, I started witnessing girls just sort of following through the safety networks in local communities across the country. And I wanted to be a part of the solution. When I started as the National Sea of Girl Scouts, I went out and I ask my Girl Scout councils, what can we do better to support you?

And I heard from 12, 000 customers. We decided to actually invest in technology in a major way and I'm doing that. So that now, instead of waiting 3 months, from the minute you raised your hand to the local recruitment that and then 3 months later, you've gone through your training and you're actually in front of the trooper girls, we're now cutting that time period down to 5 days. But we need to teach girls about the value of money and about financial literacy because they need to be able to finance these dreams that they have. And I hate to say this, but I've never really been dreaming my money.

What drives me is the investment in our society. A lot of people don't realize that our Girl Scout Cookie Program is the largest entrepreneur business in the world. They raised multi- million dollars every year and they use the revenue of that program to actually invest that amount of profits. So they're philanthropists. But they don't call it being a philanthropist. They just-- they're do gooders, you know. For me, it's how do I translate these really complicated financial terms and concepts for girls, so they can understand that they need to know about it. They need to know about why you count money, why you save money, why you invest money and the power behind those investments in that when they're older.

And they sit back and say, where can I invest my dollars? They look behind that investments and say, is my dollar going be invested in an organization that's going to help other people? And I think at the end of the day, that's the power of Girl Scouts.
