>> Tensions in Ukraine escalate once again as gunman storm in the government building in the Crimea region. And the conflict is ratcheting up regional tensions as Russian President Vladimir Putin orders military exercises and scrambles fighter jet in the Ukrainian boarder.

>> Fifty gunmen stormed the building, there taking control. Pushing out all the government employees, security, police officers and so forth taking control would seem putting up that Russian Flag.

Massive crowds of protestors clashed with each other, Wednesday into Thursday morning. Some yelled, " Crimea is Ukraine ." Others yelled and hold signs saying " Crimea is Russia ." The Crimean peninsula is in the southeast corner of the Ukraine and is still home to Russia's black sea fleet. It was one of the last strongholds of support for [ unk ] President Viktor Yanukovych, who Russian media say has fled to Moscow for protection. Russian now appears to be flexing its muscles.

The BBC reports 150 thousand troops did military exercises along the Ukrainian border, Wednesday. And as many as ninety fighter jets are on combat alert. Mostly peaceful protest started in Ukraine in November when Yanukovych's government spurn the deal with the European Union in favor of a bail out from Russia but violence left more than eighty dead in the capitol of Kiev last week and enforce the president from power. As NPR notes Russia has aggressively tried to keep its leverage in Ukraine as its global influence declines, Crimea in particular has a majority Russian population since World War two, following years of [ unk ] and style on its policies that marginalized the regions indigenous ethnic tarters.

Crimea was even part of the Russian State until the mid 50's and Russia maintains a military presence there. And while expert save the Ukrainian economy is in desperate need of assistance. The massive country is still coveted by both strategist in Moscow and Brussels. I'm Christian Brian.
