Increasing even faster than they did this year according to a new study by PricewaterhouseCoopers. Costs will increase by 6. 8 % in 2015 compared to 6. 5 % last year. Now that's not much of an increase, but over the last few years, it's actually been coming down. You can blame the stronger economy. Healthier individual budgets mean consumers are more willing to spend money on healthcare, elective and otherwise. The study also cites drug development as an expensive short- term inflator. And hospitals getting in- house physicians who's services command higher rates. But it's not all bad news. The firm says some of these costs will be mitigated by the systematization of hospitals and other healthcare providers. This is the standardization of medical procedures. An elimination of unnecessary administrative measures. People also took advantage of the Obama administration's healthcare marketplace this year. Comparison shopping for health insurance, to find the best deals they could. The involvement deadline was March 31, but some people still qualify for special enrollment periods. And open enrollment for next year, will begin in November 2014. Luckily, there are plenty of ways to save money on healthcare that aren't time restricted. The Atlanta General Constitution's list of tips includes nobrainers like avoiding the emergency room if you can help it. And checking over medical billing, to make sure you've been accurately charged for services. You could also save money by scheduling any procedures that require hospital stays for earlier in the day, to minimize your chances of having to stay overnight. Thanks for watching.
