>> His casket draped in the South African flag. Nelson Mandela travelled the final leg of a long walk home, Sunday, with the full military honor guard. Ninety five candles marking each year of his life surrounded the man who led South Africa out of a part side. Some 4, 000 guests attended Mandela's funeral service in his hometown of Qunu.

>> Today marks the end of an extraordinary journey that began 95 years ago.

>> While the crowd may have looked impressive, it still paled in comparison to the tens of thousands who attended Mandela's memorial services at the 90, 000 seats soccer stadium in Soweto earlier in the week. Dignitaries gathered for ten days of national mourning ending with Sunday service attended by South African President, Jacob Zuma, Oprah, Prince Charles and others.

>> Farewell, my dear brother, my mentor, my leader. My life is in a void and I don't know who to turn to.

>> We shall miss you, tatumkulo. We shall miss your stern voice when you were not pleased. We shall miss your voice as it told us stories of your childhood. We shall miss your laughter.

>> As tradition dictates, he was buried at noon when the sun was at its highest. Military helicopters with South African flags flew over the gravesite in tribute. Mandela died on December 5th in Johannesburg at the age of 95 from a recurring lung infection. He was laid to rest on a family plot overlooking the pink house he built after his release from prison. Nearly half a century after the Rivonia Trial courtroom speech, he knew could lead to the death penalty for sabotage. Nearly two decades after a post- prison inauguration as his country's President, Modiva Tata Nelson Mandela, as one speaker Sunday said, has achieved his ultimate freedom.
