What is the best camera app? >> I really like Hipstamatic. It's a spin on the old Hipstamatic 100, which is a really sort of inexpensive camera that anyone could purchase back in the early '80s like '82, '83, it's just-- it's a fun little app. It's $ 2 and you know, you can throw all sorts of different lenses for different effects, flashes and film and you get sort of these lomos sort of like images. >> It's cool. >> Yeah. I like it a lot. It's my favorite thing right now. >> I will defend my choice of Glinda from The Wizard of Oz. >> All right. Did you see-- have you seen the movie The Wizard of Oz? >> Yes and that unfortunate actress was not that attractive. However-- >> She's not unpleasant looking-- >> No. >> but she is not just-- the problem is that she's not sort of hot. >> In the book, they describe her as very beautiful. >> She's just-- she's an appealing actress but not hot. >> I didn't find the photo. I just named her witch. >> I found the photo. >> I personally like her on The Lake. >> She was Veronica Lake. >> From I Married a Witch. >> Is that a classic film? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> But you really like Willow? >> Hell yeah. >> Willow, for me, it's like the definitive package here from Buffy. >> Yeah. >> Is that because Willow likes girls? >> Of course she does. That's right. >> So, can one of you please explain to me why I have seen this sort of inflective of classic books or characters like Abraham Lincoln turning into a zombie or a vampire killer or something else? >> Yeah, I can't really explain it. It started with Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which came out last year, which was a clever sort of point of purchase book idea from a company called Quirk Books. Why that took off in the way that it did? I can't really say. I thought it was like, you know, one joke, but it actually sold like a million copies. So, the guy who wrote that then immediately sold Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and got a lot of money for it and wrote it, and it's actually basically readable. And the idea basically is that Abraham Lincoln secretly unannounced to all this fighting of war against vampires in America and vampires were behind the civil war and it's all a kind of a big metaphor for slavery. Yeah, right. >> So, Evan started The Crashies, our very own-- Techland's very own video game awards-- >> Yeah. >> this week. What do you think about of his choices? >> I think he had some good ones. >> Yeah. >> I mean, the field was rich with shitty video games this year. >> Oh, absolutely. >> So, he sort of spoiled the choice. I think for movie game, movie time, I think Avatar was the good choice. >> Yeah. GI Joe was pretty bad though. >> Yeah, I didn't play that. You did play GI Joe. >> Yeah, it's really bad. >> Worse than Avatar? No, how do you list the real criteria in there for a horribleness of video game? >> What game do you remember from last year that you thought was just absolute crap? >> Avatar, I think, is a notable failure just because Cameron is such an able technologist. He was almost choking that he you know, he couldn't make it work. >> What about you, Allie? >> I love the new games, Peter. >> Yeah. >> So, Allie, you and Steve got to see Alice earlier this week, right? >> Yup, yup. >> What is about with the intern seeing Alice before I saw Alice? >> It's gonna be nice. >> Oh, zing. >> So, you gotta see Alice. How was it? >> Yeah. I was just a lot better than I thought actually. It didn't have a lot of expectations going into the film. >> Right. >> Aside from this is gonna be another Tim Burton ask in your face. Lots of crazy, lots of darkness. >> A love affair with Johnny Depp. >> Right, exactly. >> So, he's sort of dark in the story a little bit. >> Yeah, I mean, of course, it's Tim Burton but-- >> Yeah. >> yeah, he you know, Alice is an adult now or almost an adult and she gets trapped back in the Wonderland and a lot of the things go similarly but you know, it's just kind of something happening all over again. So, it's not a total rehash of everything you wanna see but it's good. >> So, it's worth seeing then? >> It is. It is.
