## Transcript

What will an affordable family car look like in the year 2030? Chevrolet's answer will shock and delight you. Welcome to the FNR, perhaps Chevy's most daring concept car ever. I think when people look at this vehicle. They will get a sense for the complexity in what the designers are trying to convey I think. Which is a futuristic car with a certain amount of flow. Like other car makers, GM has been steadily building pathways to the future by adding technologies to its current day cars. Systems like night vision, blind spot alert, lane change warning, adaptive cruise control and vehicle to vehicle communication.

Autonomous technology is really very vibrant in a lot of conversations today. There's a lot of interesting ideas, a lot of expectations and also a lot of challenges, of course. Another challenge. Getting the huge, 16 foot long FNR to sit properly on its hubless wheels. According to General Motors, those skinny rims will house the electric motors that power the FNR. For now, the vehicle is powered by on- board electric motors, that allow it to drive itself, with the help of a technician, and some sophisticated software. [ MUSIC ] Making the FNR one giant remote controlled vehicle. [ MUSIC ] The craftsman at Metal Crafters created thousands of custom molds for the FNR's complex body panels.

Each piece is made of lightweight carbon fiber, which is hand laid. And then baked in giant auto claves or ovens. The car's one off plexi glass canopy took weeks to perfect we think about this cocoon environment and ya know kind of hollowing out the interior. Certain things go away, it's all of a sudden I don't have a steering wheel and more I don't have a gear shift interface. And that opens a door to creating a new experience for the interior. Material even the car's paint is unique it's called meteorite. It had tiny blue flecks of something called lux sand which sparkles like metallic fleck and looks like blue points of light in a galaxy of stars it's a futuristic glimpse into how General Motors wants to play in the autonomous vehicle race and win millennial's and the rest of the world over.

In the process. The story we're trying to tell with the FNR- 1 show vehicle is Chevrolet is progressive in technology, progressive in design execution, and progressive in the fact that we're gonna do something like this. Take a chance, keep moving the brand forward. Even though the FNR is only a dream today, its designers say that all the technologies, real and imagined. Agent are feasible by around 2030 and will also be common enough that the cost will actually be affordable for real people not just the hyper wealthy. Chevy hopes that the FNR, which stands for Find New Roads, will hook younger buyers with the promise of a vehicle that will be part Siri.

Part BFF, and part fitbit. All encased in a body to blow their minds. [ MUSIC ]
