It is a spiritual sequel to a game that came out in 2012 called Xenoblade Chronicles, without the X. Same development team worked on this game. Monolith Soft executive producer, Tetsuya Takahashi Who is responsible for all of the other Xeno series games all the way back to Xenogears. In it you play a human survivor crash landed on an alien planet. This is the alien planet, this area is called Primordia. It is one of several immense, vast areas that you can explore in the game. This is an exploration- based game as well as a combat- driven game. But the exploration Component is, is substantial. So we're gonna initiate a combat with this sort of friendly creature just so I can show you a little bit about what it's like. It is similar to the last game. It's real- time with these pull- down driven circle abilities or cir, circular icons at the base there. You can cycle back and forth through them. I'm waiting for this ability. Ability to charge up. And now that it has, I'll fire. Do an enormous amount of damage. There's a quick time event there that has to do with, the morale system and something called soul voices. Too much to get into here, it's enormously complex. In fact, that is the difference, between this game and the last game. It's not a different game. It is like the last game, plus, plus, plus. They've just iterated Iterated and iterated and iterated. They've added layers upon layers to what you could do in the original [ INAUDIBLE ] chronicles. So a lot of information to grapple with, the learning curve is steep. But well worth it if you have the tenacity to learn it. So this is a very large, friendly creature that I am going to foolishly attack. To see what happens. If you have not done so, you just watched this film, we'll trod along the distance and then see what happens. And oh, something out of his back, meteor and, bam, all four of my characters died. So that's what happens. Now I, I've switched to a different area here called Nachtylan, which is another one of the areas in the game that you explore. The areas are. Believable big and as you can see the Wii U is doing things here that you wouldn't expect the Wii U to be able to do. Which frankly, I think it's doing things that you wouldn't see being done, not that they couldn't be done, but that we haven't really seen done on the PS4 or the Xbox 1. So this area's a little bit more forested and treed out and I was intending to show you a little more, but this echo [ UNKNOWN ] is a Attacking me. Little bit about combat, the way that combat works is about maybe let's just say roughly half of the creatures in these areas are non hostile unless you attack them. The other half have icons, in this case you see that sort of little red eye ball up next to the LB20. That indicates that this creature will attack if you get within visual range. Some creatures attack based on audio. These are cues you can read if you're not sort of ambushed as I was here, to help you decide how to sort of navigate the world. If you want to stealth around them or just rush right in. So another thing that's interesting and important here, the last game was Did not have both melee and ranged in, sort of, equal proportion. Here in Xenoblade Chronicles X you do. You can switch very quickly in real- time just by tapping a button and it's important in the new combat system to coordinate with some of your other character's abilities, lets put it that way. What you choose to do and when you choose to do it is all There are all of these ques that are being served as you're playing. Color related ques, call outs from your party members and you need to tap or do the corresponding optimal things as you are battling to maximize the damage. Those white beams are taking out my Two of my cohorts here. So it's just myself and one of my characters named Elma. It's one of the main story characters. I've been trying to finish this [ INAUDIBLE ] off. It looks like we're gonna do it. Another quick time event there. And it should be down in just a minute or a couple of seconds here. And there you have it.
