## Transcript

As protests continue all over the country in response to a St. Louis grand jury decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson in the death of unarmed teenager Michael Brown, many have turned their attention to another grand jury decision expected this week. [ INAUDIBLE ] [ INAUDIBLE ] Eric Garner was killed in July by NYPD officer Daniel Pantelaio. about three weeks before the Michael Brown shooting. Much like Brown's death in Ferguson, the death of Eric Garner, and the video documenting it, led to protests throughout New York. In September, shortly after Garner's death was ruled a homicide by NYC's Medical Examiner's Office.

Staten Island District Attorney Daniel Donovan Jr. put together a Grand Jury to decide whether Pantaleo would go to trial. I hope that our, that Officer Pantaleo is indicted. Any thoughts on what the charges should be? Murder. And while Garner's death was ruled a homicide, many say it's unlikely Pantaleo will be charged with murder. Though he could potentially face a lesser crime such as second degree manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide. No matter what the decision, the NYPD Commissioner says the Department has been preparing for months. We've been conducting a series of community meetings throughout the city, and we've also been tactically preparing, in terms of bringing in resources to deal with any potential eventuality.

You hope for the best and plan for the worst. Garner's son told the New York Daily News he hopes for a peaceful protest, no matter the outcome. Its not going to be a Ferguson like protest because I think everybody knows my father wasn't a violent man and they're going to respect his memory by remaining peaceful. The Grand Jury decision is expected as early as Wednesday
