As the summer fades away and fall comes into focus, we begin the how they season which means consumers will spend extra money from now until the new year. According to the national retail federation or NRF, Americans will come out in record numbers for the spookiest holidays of the year. The NRF reports more than two- third of Americans, 67. 4 percent, will buy Halloween costumes this year which is the most in the survey's 11 year history. And that's not just cute kids. That's also plenty of grownups in not- so- cute kid costumes. In fact, the NRF says while $ 1. 1 billion will be spent on kiddo costumes, more than $ 1.

4 billion dollars will be spent on sexy olaf and the like. NRF president Matthew Shay said of the record numbers, there's question that the variety of adult, child, and even pet costumes now available. Has driven the demand and popularity of Halloween. Wait. Pet costumes? Yep. Costumes for all members of the family. This year more than 23 million unlucky pets will be shoved into costumes to please their owners. Aw. Candy, costumes, and kids have made Halloween the fourth largest holiday of the year for retailers, with US spending increasing by 55 percent since 2005. And while 7. 4 billion dollars for a night trick or treating may seem like a lot.

Nothing puts American's in the spending spirit like inter time. Last year American's spent more than six hundred billion dollars for Christmas, Hanukkah, and the rest of the winter season
