## Transcript

Searchers looking for any sign of missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 have given up on the search for possible pings from the plane's black boxes. Now they're sending a submarine deep underwater. The move comes nearly a week after searchers heard the last ping, which had a frequency consistent with that of black boxes. Now searchers are going to rely on sonar from a device called the Bluefin 21 to map out the ocean floor and possibly help with the search for flight recorders. CNN points out it could be a long process. It takes a minimum of 24 hours to complete one mission, one time down and one time back up.

You offload the information and charge, charge it back up again and send it right back out. It takes two hours for the submarines to make it to the ocean floor alone. The Telegraph reports it could potentially take weeks or even months to find anything from the missing flight. Authorities are keeping their search off the coast of Australia in the area where searchers said they heard sporadic pings up until Tuesday. Officials believe the batteries in the recorders have likely died. Official are still stuck with few leads on how it went down more than a month after the Boeing 777 disappeared and why it flew so far off course.

USA Today points out officials say all that seems credible right now are the pings and a recently spotted oil slick nearby. I'm Jamal Andrews.
