Located a few miles off Haiti's shores, this massive 17- deck aircraft carrier serves as the Navy's central hub with more than 4000 soldiers working day and night. Nearly two dozen helicopters and airplanes depart and land from the ship each day. Given fuel shortages in Haiti, they must be fully self- sufficient. That's where Raymond Gray comes in. >> I'm [ unk ]. We have 18 different fueling stations on the flight deck so I have to tell my crew which one to go to and what aircraft they need to fuel. It's starting to get a rhythm to it, at first it was hectic. Everybody's getting used to it. >> After loading up, helicopters take off for Port- au- Prince Airport where they drop shipments of food and water to be distributed to the millions of homeless and hungry. These drops are crucial for the survivors of Haiti's most devastating earthquake but there are still a lot more work to do. >> There are a number of places, many places here in Haiti that-- that we have not been to and so we're still very much in the assessment phase to try to bring more relief in and ease some of the suffering. >> It's hard work. At the end of the day, the sailors are exhausted. They take a rare moment to relax before they have to start again but the Navy has no set date for departure. They are in it for the long haul. >> Because of the situation we are in, that's why everybody just keeps going. I mean it's not training.
