## Transcript

Welcome to the PageCast. It's Friday, September 28th. I'm Mark Halperin in New York. Barack Obama, Thursday 19 to Hillary Clinton's home turf, gave a big speech in Washington Square Park in Greenwich Village. And he talks for the first time about risky change. He said he's the candidate who can make change because he's not from Washington. He's not part of the past in Washington. He clearly was referring to Hillary Clinton and trying to make a stronger contrast than he'd made in Wednesday night's debate in New Hampshire. But he made an unusual argument. He said the country's gonna have to take a risk, the Democrats are gonna have to take a risk to nominate Barack Obama, to elect him president because they require us taking a risk on someone who is untested.

It probably reflects reality but it's a much different argument than Hillary Clinton is making. She's saying basically, I am safe change, that's the argument that George Bush made in 2004. It tends to be a winning argument in American politics, but Barack Obama is saying the country needs to roll the dice and follow him. It was an energized rally. We'll see if he keeps that message up. We'll watch it today and throughout the weekend. For now, I'm Mark Halperin in New York. Thanks for listening and watching the PageCast.
