Our country is based on immigration. I mean who's American you know. Well me and my sister, we came here on the exact same circumstances. We lived here for the exact same amount of time. We went through the same exact process and yet I became an American citizen and she is still undocumented. This is my grandmother. She's the one who petitioned for me and she passed away two weeks before our interview date that permanently put me in a backlog. It doesn't make any sense for bother sister to have different legal status. It, it doesn't make sense but it's possible because the, we have a broken system. And if you're unlucky enough to fall into those little cracks, which is what happened to me [ LAUGH ], this is what happens. You go out there and you, you're trying to take those first steps towards building your life or you, towards your goals and your dreams, and you just can't do it. I can be something small as trying to earn a drivers license to something big as not being able to pay, you know, that college tuition. This is something that all undocumented, what we call the dreamers, go through. Dreamers. are this new young generation in America who represent the American dream. And who are fighting for it. I was given a chance to meet with President Obama and share my story. This is him creating every dreamer. Walking into his Oval Office. As amazing and exciting the experience was, what I'm really there, you know, doing is sending him a message. That this is what we look like, and this what our lives' like. It's so easy to get caught up, during the political debate, in just the political worlds, like Washington D. C.. To define people through statistics, or just, you know, numbers and figures, but people are not, people are not numbers and figures, and the whole immigration reform you're dealing with, reform of people lives. It's a broken system, meaning it has to be fixed.
