I'm Boomer Esiason for SI. com, and you know, I've often said on CBS television, also here on SI and also on my radio show on WFN in New York that I believe that Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback to have ever played the game. Now I said that well before he won his fourth Superbowl and his third Superbowl MVP this past year. Against the Seattle Seahawks. As a matter of fact, when you take a look at the two time NFL MVP, the fact that he's a 95 quarterback rating, has thrown almost 400 touchdown passes and many say he has done more with less than any other quarterback in history. I think you could see where I'm coming from.

Now saying all of that, I don't think this deflate gate stuff is going to in any way Shape reform hinder his legacy in my eyes anyway. However, I do believe that the NFL will have to come down and they're gonna have to come down pretty harshly on him, meaning that some sort of suspension will be a line here. The thing that I really can't get past is the fact that the NFL officials supposedly passed the footballs after they were brought to them. Then those footballs disappeared outside of NFL game protocol. Those balls were then taken into the bathroom by some guy by the name of Jim McNally, where supposedly he let the air out of those balls.

You're going to hear a lot of deflection from the Tom Brady supporters, his agents, his family members, maybe even team members, and even other players around the league. But the fact of the matter if in fact which I do believe is the case it was a premeditated act to circumvent the rules of the NFL, to soft up those balls so he could throw the ball better, well there you have a major problem and that's why you'll have to have a major suspension So for me a two game suspension would be major. For the face of the NFL and greatest quarterback in NFL history and somebody who still has many years left to add to his legacy.

Unfortunately, this will be a blip and maybe even an An asterisk, but in my eyes it does not diminish in any way, shape, or form the type of great player Tom Brady truly is. I'm Boomer Esiason. [ MUSIC ]
