## Transcript

The South Korean ferry disaster claimed another life Tuesday morning. As one of the hundreds of volunteer divers searching for bodies lost consciousness under water. He was trying to install new guideline ropes to the fifth floor of the ship. To help in the search for the dozens of bodies that remain unaccounted for. Divers only had three rooms left to search where crews thought they might find bodies. CNN reports after five minutes in the water, the 53- year- old diver lost communication with colleagues on the surface. South Korean media report the man was found without his diving equipment. And his communication and air supply cords were tangled.

He goes only by his surname, Lee. While 174 people were rescued the day the ship sank in mid- April, no survivors managed to escape since. It was sailing toward a resort island with hundreds of high school students aboard. More than 260 bodies have been pulled from the capsized wreckage. And the presumed death toll is expected to reach more than 300 once the ship is fully cleared. The Seoul captain, crew and operator are all under investigation with several arrested and charged. The scrutiny is not just over why the ship sank, but also over the crews actions once it was clear something was wrong.

Passengers were told to stay put instead of evacuate, even as the vessel severely listed. And the South Korean Coast Guard released this now widely distributed video of the Captain. Seen here wearing a sweater and underwear, jumping from the ship even as hundreds remained on board. Since the ship sank, hundreds civilian divers have helped search the wreckage. This is the first reported fatality of any search and rescue member. Thanks for watching I'm Lauren Gores.
