Oscar nominations are out and we're here with all you need to know for the big categories. For Best Supporting Actor, it's Barkhad Abdi for Captain Phillips, Bradley Cooper in American Hustle, Michael Fassbender for 12 Years a Slave, Jonah Hill for The Wolf of Wall Street, and Jared Leto for Dallas Buyers Club. For Best Supporting Actress, Sally Hawkins in Blue Jasmine, Jennifer Lawrence in American Hustle, Lupita Nyong'o in 12 Years a Slave, Julia Roberts in August: Osage County, and June Squibb for Nebraska. Up for Best Actor- Christian Bale in American Hustle, Bruce Dern in Nebraska, Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street, Chiwetel Ejiofor in 12 Years a Slave, and Matthew McConaughey for Dallas Buyers Club.

For Best Actress- Amy Adams in American Hustle, Cate Blanchett in Blue Jasmine, Sandra Bullock in Gravity, Judi Dench for Philomena, and Meryl Streep for August: Osage County. In the Best Director category- David O. Russell for American Hustle, Alfonso Cuaron for Gravity, Alexander Payne for Nebraska, Steve McQueen for 12 Years a Slave, and Martin Scorsese for The Wolf of Wall Street. This is the big one- Best Picture. There are nine nominees this year: American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave, and The Wolf of Wall Street. The nominees are, overall, fairly expected.

These movies were all considered front runners, but of course, a few snubs. So far, reaction is that Lee Daniels' The Butler, and in particular, Oprah Winfrey should have gotten nominations. Robert Redford got big praise for All Is Lost, but no Best Actor nomination. And what about a posthumous nomination for James Gandolfini in Enough Said? Overall, American Hustle and Gravity topped the list with 10 Oscar nominations each. 12 Years a Slave was a close second, though, with nine. For Time, I'm Lauren Zima.
