It tends to go for a Republican when Republicans have a wave, and Democrats when Democrats have a wave and that's because it's a district in a red state with you know, a lot of conservatives but it's also suburb of a big city so The suburban voters who are gonna decide the midterms are the types of people who live in this district. Early voting in Kansas has started, and this parking lot for this precinct in Overland Park is packed. Mary, how do you typically vote? I vote usually Republican. And I believed what he said. His campaign promises that to make America great again. And I thought it was time for a person that wasn't with a political experience. And how has that turned out? Horrible. And how did you vote in this race? Yeah, I voted as a Democrat. And why did you pick Sharice Davids? Cuz I want Yoder out of there. [ MUSIC ] [ MUSIC ] Our first stop is Sharice Davids. She is a really interesting candidate. She is a ****, Native American, former MMA fighter who is also an attorney and has represented Native American communities. She's running for Kevin Yoder's seat in Congress and right now she's up in the polls. I've had to fight my whole life because of who I am, who I love, and where I started. But I didn't let anything get in my way. It's not about just the experiences that I have, it's about that we're taking all of our combined And experiences, and turning that into something meaningful this year. I'm Charlotte. Charlotte, Sharice, thanks for being here. Nice to meet you, Sharice, thank you so much for making the time to do this. There are a lot of different aspects of who I am, and what my experience has been, that a lot of people connect with for one reason or another. I see that around, you know, the number of people who want to see more women Men running for office. The number of people who wanna see more first generation college students running for office. It took me four years to get an associate's degree because I was working the whole time that I was in school, and we don't have enough people in Congress who know what it's like to go to community college. I mean, I think that's the piece that Has really that's the part that I feel has really been maybe more interesting or non- traditional about my campaign.
