## Transcript

What is it about the show that's so special? Its core philosophy is about real things. It's struggles that we all have gone through. Gilmore Girls is a really special show. I think we knew it right from when we read the pilot script. Please, Luke, please, please, please. How many cups have you had this morning? None. Plus five, but yours is better. You have a problem. Yes, I do. I hope other people like it as much as we like it. Is it possible? It's just one of those things that you can't really put your finger on it, you just connect to it. Well, my mother's a single mother, just like Lorelei, so my mother is one of my best friends.

I always actually loved the speed at which they spoke. This is it. She can finally go to Harvard like she's always wanted and get the education that I never got. And get to do all the things that I never got to do. And then I can resent her for it and we can finally have a normal mother daughter relationship. I love the writing in this show so much. And, as an actor it is such a gift to work on material that is so incredibly Really well written. This script was like, I love it. Like I got teary, it grabbed me. I could see all of it. So I guess you're still grounded over that whole Henry thing?

Are you kidding? It's the mother of all groundings. My mom's done everything but slap a [ UNKNOWN ] ankle bracelet on me. When you're old enough to like catch on to the references, it's such a smart show. Nobody on the show has any shame about who they are and I think we all wish as people that we could be more like that. I'm a Gilmore. Do they know that? My ancestors came over on the Mayflower. Rory's speech to her mom at her high school graduation saying that she filled the house love and movies and books, and gave a bunch of different role models. It kind of really resonated with me. She filled our house with love and fun and books and music, unflagging in her efforts to give me role models from Jane Austen to Eudora Welty to Patty Smith.

Having that sort of relationship with one of your parents is wonderful. This fence is broken, because of you. This crap is on the ground, because of you. What's your point? Did you ever know, that you're my hero? My god. It's perfect, it gets your through the worst times. A mother is a girl's best friend. And that's what the show teaches you. I love you, Mom. Kid, you have no idea. [ MUSIC ]
